ABSTRACT
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of death worldwide. Using cDNA microarrays to characterize patterns gene expression in HCC, we found consistent differences between the HCC compared with those seen nontumor liver tissues. The were also readily distinguished from associated tumors metastatic liver. global intrinsic each tumor sufficiently distinctive that multiple nodules same patient could usually be recognized and all others large sample set on basis their alone. are characteristic not patient; programs clonally independent no more similar than different patients. Moreover, related masses showed distinct profiles by genotypic differences. Some features specific phenotypic characteristics tumors, including growth rate, vascular invasion, p53 overexpression.
