ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Care home residents live with frailty and multiple long-term conditions. Their medical management is complex specialised. We set out to develop a list of core competencies for doctors providing care in homes. Methods A scoping review searched MEDLINE, EMBASE CAB Abstracts, supplemented by grey literature from the Portal Online Geriatrics Education International Association Gerontology, looking working These were mapped UK nationally mandated Generic Professional Competencies Framework. Delphi exercise was conducted over three rounds using panel experts homes medicine older people. achieving 80% agreement inclusion/exclusion rejected/accepted, respectively. Results The identified 22 articles inclusion, yielding 124 21 domains. comprised 23 experts, including 6 geriatricians, 4 nurses, 3 general practitioners, 2 advanced clinical managers, one each patient public representative, palliative specialist, psychiatrist, academic, physiotherapist audit lead. At end rounds, 109 19 domains agreed. Agreement strongest generic around weaker sub-specialist knowledge about specific conditions related leadership management.
