Developing a list of core competencies for medical aspects of healthcare delivery in care homes: scoping review and Delphi process

Abstract Background Care home residents live with frailty and multiple long-term conditions. Their medical management is complex specialised. We set out to develop a list of core competencies for doctors providing care in homes. Methods A scoping review searched MEDLINE, EMBASE CAB Abstracts, supplemented by grey literature from the Portal Online Geriatrics Education International Association Gerontology, looking working These were mapped UK nationally mandated Generic Professional Competencies Framework. Delphi exercise was conducted over three rounds using panel experts homes medicine older people. achieving 80% agreement inclusion/exclusion rejected/accepted, respectively.
