ABSTRACT
to investigate the relationship between blood pressure over time and mortality in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).prospective observational cohort study.primary care, Zwolle, The Netherlands.patients T2DM aged 60 years older (n = 881). was divided into two age categories: 60-75 than 75 years.updated means for systolic, diastolic pulse pressures were calculated after a median follow-up of 9.8 years. These values used as time-dependent covariates Cox proportional hazard model. Main outcome measures all-cause cardiovascular mortality.all inversely related diabetic (>75 years). Furthermore, these relationships specifically found treated antihypertensive medication at baseline. A decrease 10 mm Hg systolic pressure, led increase 22% [95% confidence interval (95% CI): 13-31%], 30% CI: 13%-46%] 11%-33%], respectively. In low group (60-75 years), no mortality.blood is marker patients; however, inverse.
