ABSTRACT
Objective: to explore the relationship between blood lipids/lipoproteins and cognitive function in Chinese oldest-old. Design: multivariate statistical analysis using cross-sectional data. Setting: community-based setting longevity areas China. Subjects: eight hundred thirty-six subjects aged 80 older were included sample. Methods: plasma total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein high-density pressure fasting glucose measured information about demographics lifestyle was collected. Cognitive status assessed Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Results: cumulative logit model showed that triglyceride significantly negatively associated with impairment. By general linear modelling, there a significant trend of MMSE scores level triglyceride, but not levels cholesterol after adjustment. The odds ratio (OR) impairment (MMSE score < 18) reduced for highest quartile concentration (OR: 0.52, 95% CI: 0.33–0.84), second or third quartile, compared lowest (adjusted models). There no associations cholesterol. Conclusion: we concluded high normal preservation while lower concentrations
