ABSTRACT
Abstract Metal ion binding domains are found in proteins that mediate transport, buffering or detoxification of metal ions. In this study, we have performed an silico analysis and identified putative motifs for the ions cadmium, cobalt, zinc, arsenic, mercury, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum nickel. A pattern search against UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot UniProtKB/TrEMBL databases yielded true positives each case showing high-specificity motifs. Motifs were also validated PDB structures site directed mutagenesis studies. Contact: pgautam@annauniv.edu; s_anishetty@yahoo.co.uk
