ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Candida auris is a multiresistant pathogenic yeast commonly isolated from bloodstream infections in immunocompromised patients. In this work, we infected Galleria mellonella larvae with 105 CFU of reference strains and two clinical isolates C. albicans compared the outcomes infection between both species. Larvae were evaluated every 24 h for total 120 following G. Health Index Scoring System, survival, activity, melanization cocoon formation monitored. Our results showed that significantly more than independently tested species, producing lower survival activity scores higher being virulent strains. We did not find differences mortality aggregative non-aggregative strains, although produced ones. Survival assays using have been previously employed to examine classify other microbial species based on their virulence before scaling experiments mammal model. Taken together, these show how complete evaluation model can improve study isolates.
