ABSTRACT
Abstract Flowering is an essential process in fruit trees. Flower number and timing have a substantial impact on the yield maturity of fruit. Ethylene gibberellin (GA) play vital roles flowering, but mechanism coordinated regulation flowering woody plants by GA ethylene still unclear. In this study, lemon (Citrus limon L. Burm) 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid synthase gene (CiACS4) was overexpressed Nicotiana tabacum resulted late increased flower number. Further transformation citrus revealed that starch content increased, soluble sugar decreased 35S:CiACS4 lemon. Inhibition CiACS4 effects opposite to transgenic plants. Overexpression CiACS4-interacting protein ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTOR3 (CiERF3) N. delayed more flowers. experiments CiACS4–CiERF3 complex can bind promoters FLOWERING LOCUS T (CiFT) GOLDEN2-LIKE (CiFE) suppress their expression. Moreover, overexpression CiFE led early flowers, ethylene, starch, contents were those Interestingly, also bound promoter CiFT. Additionally, GA3 1-aminocyclopropanecarboxylic (ACC) treatments adult citrus, treatment with inhibitors ACC inhibited expression CiFT CiFE. This study provides theoretical basis for application regulate mitigate impacts extreme weather due flowering.
