ABSTRACT
Sedentary behavior (SB) is defined as a mean of >6 hours daytime sitting or lying down. SB has been shown to increase with older age and risk factor for disease. During the transition from working life retirement, changes in daily activities occur, risking increased SB. The aim present study was gain deeper understanding relation retirement experienced by persons retirement.The grounded phenomenological life-world perspective. Fourteen semi-structured interviews were conducted participants aged 64 75 years. Data analyzed using empirical psychological method.The described that voluntary sedentary time positively related general health well-being, whereas involuntary negatively health. Increased natural when aging. Retirement expressed rest after hard work ability choose slower pace life. Internal external demands routines interrupted SB, loneliness perceived Participants strived find balance between physical activity time. variations participants' descriptions formed 3 typologies: light meaningful shadow dual process-postponing activity.Increased aging but something may be postponed conscious choices. associated health, rest, recovery also deteriorating health.This knowledge meaning could guide design promotion interventions helpful targeting those need support individualizing decrease retirement.This reveals how describe healthy unhealthy can activity.
