ABSTRACT
A wide variety of modern technologies make use radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic energy (EME) to provide convenient functions and services users. The rise in the RF EME-enabled devices has led public perception increasing exposures concerns about potential health effects. During March April 2022, Australian Radiation Protection Nuclear Safety Agency conducted an intensive campaign measure characterise ambient EME levels within Melbourne metropolitan area. Fifty locations across city were visited, a signals frequency range 100 kHz 6 GHz detected recorded including broadcast radio television (TV), Wi-Fi mobile telecommunications services. highest measured total level was 2.85 mW/m2, which is equivalent 0.14% relevant limit specified by Standard (RPS S-1). results showed that largest contributor at 30 suburbs, whereas downlink from phone towers main other 20 sites. Broadcast TV only sources found contribute more than 1% exposure any site. All well below permitted for general given RPS S-1 therefore do not present hazard.
