ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective The purpose of this study was to assess the safety transgenic maize CC-2 through a 90-day feeding in Sprague-Dawley rats. Methods Transgenic and its parental counterpart Zhengdan 958 were respectively incorporated into diets at levels 70%, 35% or 17.5% (w/w) administrated rats (n = 10/sex/group) for 90 days. An additional control group fed with AIN93 breeding diet. All formulated nutritionally balanced. Results There no death obvious toxic symptom all Food consumption, body weight, total food consumption rate, hematology, urinalysis, organ weight coefficient comparable between groups corresponding dose groups. significant differences rate on some timepoint high group; male showed significantly higher ALT/AST than middle end experiment; but biological significance. other serum biochemistry parameters pathological changes. Conclusion results demonstrated that didn't cause any related toxicity
