ABSTRACT
The main pathogenicity factor of Streptomyces species associated with the potato common scab disease is a nitrated diketopiperazine called thaxtomin A (ThxA). In scabiei (syn. S. scabies), which thought to be most ancient pathogenic species, ThxA biosynthetic cluster located within mobile genomic island toxicogenic region (TR). Three attachment (att) sites further separate TR into two subregions (TR1 and TR2). TR1 contains conserved among several species. However, TR2, an integrative conjugative element, missing in our previous study, we demonstrated mobilization whole element or TR2 alone between nonpathogenic did not mobilize these experiments. These data suggest that required for TR1. Here, show can self harboring only integrate att site TR1, leading tandem accretion resident incoming TR2. cis transfer new recipient cell. Our study nonautonomous cis-mobilizable it hijack recombination conjugation machinery excise, transfer, integrate, dissemination genes emergence novel Additionally, comparative analysis 23 isolates from ten revealed composite (PAI) formed by dynamic various compositions exist population newly emerged indicating structural instability this PAI.
