ABSTRACT
DDL encodes a protein bearing an FHA domain in Arabidopsis thaliana. is phospho‐threonine binding plant and animal proteins that function DNA repair cell cycle regulation. N‐terminal region of displays sequence homology with involved RNA processing. can bind to microRNA vitro. SMAD nuclear interacting 1, ortholog human, regulates stability Cyclin D1. We propose processing genes regulating aim elucidate the potential role its signaling pathway by genetic approach. T‐DNA insertion knockout alleles exhibit pleiotropic developmental defects short root hypocotyl, reduced fertility distorted organs. At molecular level, ddl plants display amount microRNAs. Twelve point mutations spanning are being studied compare severity each mutation allele understand structure‐function DDL. A screen for identifying components yielded one strong two weak suppressors ddl. Phenotypic characterization mapping progress suppressors. In conclusion, phenotype makes it crucial gene be studied.
