ABSTRACT
To examine the relationship between normal nocturnal decline in blood pressure and risk of cardiovascular mortality individuals with without high 24-h values. We obtained ambulatory readings from 1542 residents Ohasama, Japan, who were aged 40 years or more representative Japanese general population. We then followed up their survival for a mean 9.2 years. The was analysed using Cox proportional hazards model adjusted possible confounding factors. There linear mortality. On average, each 5% decrease systolic/diastolic associated an approximately 20% greater There no significant interactions values continuous ( interaction 0.6). Even when within range 135/80 mmHg, average 118/69 mmHg), diminished decreases increased mortality. This is first study to demonstrate that factor mortality, independent overall load during period,
