ABSTRACT
Little research has been conducted that examined the intended effects of nursing care on clinical outcomes.The objective this study was to evaluate impact different nurse staffing models patient outcomes functional status, pain control, and satisfaction with care.A repeated-measures in all 19 teaching hospitals Ontario, Canada.The sample comprised adult medical-surgical obstetric inpatients within those hospitals.The patient's health were assessed Functional Independence Measure (FIM) Medical Outcome Study SF-36. Pain Brief Inventory perceptions measured quality subscale Patient Judgment Hospital Quality Questionnaire.The proportion regulated staff unit associated better FIM scores social function at hospital discharge. In addition, a mix included RNs unregulated workers discharge than involved RNs/RPNs workers.
