Summary: Treatment of wounds has been the cornerstone plastic surgery since its inception. Vacuum-assisted closure provides a new paradigm that can be used in concert with wide variety standard existing techniques. It was originally developed as an alternative treatment for debilitated patients chronic wounds. rapidly evolved into widely accepted and acute wounds, contaminated burns, envenomations, infiltrations, wound complications from failed operations.
