ABSTRACT
Medical schools have the responsibility of producing future leaders in academic medicine, yet few students choose medicine as a career. In 2009, American Student Association (AMSA) and George Washington University School Medicine Health Sciences joined forces to provide with comprehensive introduction careers through redesign an existing annual summer program for medical students. Since 2004, AMSA had hosted Education Leadership Institute, weeklong that attracted from across country who were interested gaining teaching skills. redesigned sixth program, authors expanded curriculum include principles leadership, education scholarship (or project development), career-building. The purpose this article is describe features share lessons learned its development implementation. also multifaceted approach they used evaluate which featured rubric derived social cognitive career theory.
