ABSTRACT
In Brief OBJECTIVE: To estimate the probability of successful sterilization after an hysteroscopic or laparoscopic procedure. METHODS: An evidence-based clinical decision analysis using a Markov model was performed to procedure sterilization, in operating room, and office. Procedure follow-up testing probabilities for were estimated from published sources. RESULTS: base case analysis, proportion women having on first attempt is 99% 88% 87% The within 1 year with 95% 94% These estimates success include approximately 6% who hysteroscopically but are ultimately sterilized laparoscopically. Approximately 5% have failed decline further attempts. CONCLUSION: Women choosing more likely than those year. However, risk subsequent pregnancy must be considered when method sterilization.
