ABSTRACT
To investigate the effect of postoperative gum chewing on bowel motility after laparoscopic gynecologic surgery.In this randomized controlled trial, patients were allocated to either every 2 hours for 15 minutes or standard care without chewing. The study's primary end points time first regular sounds and passage flatus surgery. Secondary operation defecation, patient satisfaction concerning chewing, potential side effects pain therapy.One hundred seventy-nine included in trial. We found a significantly shorter interval between surgery intervention group compared with control (median 6.2 8.1 hours; P=.002) higher rate 3 (76% 47%; P<.001) 5 (91% 78%; P=.01) Fewer opioid analgetics administered (P=.02).
