ABSTRACT
Arthroscopic suture fixation of tibial eminence fractures using FiberWire is a favorable therapeutic option. The application biodegradable material may be advantage especially during childhood. aim this study was to evaluate the biomechanical properties materials PDS II and Vicryl compared with FiberWire.Bone mineral density evaluated by pqCT in 18 human knee specimens 3 similar groups were formed. A standardized anterior fracture created performed each (PDS II, Vicryl, FiberWire) 6 specimens. Cyclic testing destructive loading failure conducted. Both modalities showed inferior other materials. Although significantly higher loads seen sutures, yielded comparable stiffness load-to-failure testing. No significant differences between could observed under nondestructive cyclic conditions.Even though yields superior ultimate load, presented results conditions. For children, should considered as an alternative material. use cannot advocated.
