ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND Botulinum toxin (BTX) has been used cosmetically with good clinical efficacy and tolerable safety. OBJECTIVE This randomized, double-blind, split-face study aimed to investigate the safety of intradermal BTX in patients rosacea. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-four participants were enrolled randomly given injections normal saline both cheeks. Clinician Erythema Assessment (CEA) score, Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) skin hydration, transepidermal water loss (TEWL), melanin content, erythema index, elasticity, sebum secretions evaluated at baseline 2, 4, 8, 12 weeks. RESULTS On BTX-treated side, CEA score significantly decreased GAIS increased. The index Weeks 4 8. Skin elasticity was improved 2 However, TEWL secretion did not show significant differences. CONCLUSION Intradermal reduced rejuvenated effectively safely
