ABSTRACT
Children are not offered elective contact lenses as a treatment option for refractive error nearly often teens are. The purpose of this report was to examine the benefits lens wear children and determine whether benefit much teens. If they do, should routinely be error.Neophyte wearers were categorized (8-12 years age) or (13-17 age). They completed Pediatric Refractive Error Profile (PREP), pediatric quality-of-life survey subjects affected only by error, while wearing glasses; then fitted with silicone hydrogel lenses. One week, 1 month, 3 months after receiving lenses, same PREP survey. Subjects also questions regarding time satisfaction during specific activities.The study enrolled 169 at three clinical centers. Ninety-three (55%) girls; 78 (46%) white; 44 (26%) Hispanic.
