ABSTRACT
To investigate the possible toxic effect of air exposure for an in vitro model primary human corneal endothelial cells (HCECs).Primary HCECs were isolated from donor rings and cultivated at 37°C 5% CO2 95% humidified air. Six groups HCEC cultures set up, 4 samples enclosed each group: group 1 consisted which exposed to 30 minutes. Group 2 hour, 3 hours, 6 5 12 24 hours.Three hours after exposure, morphology was still intact; however, a few within monolayer appeared enlarged exhibited characteristics more senescent cells. air, started losing their typical hexagonal compromised. Viability superior 3, whereas 4, 5, 71%, 22.4%, 6.3%, respectively. The present study illustrates that studied human-cultured is not significant period it starts induce major apoptotic mechanisms, leading reduced viability until where percentage living drastically decreased.
