ABSTRACT
Background: The association between malnutrition and postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) has not been well studied. In this study, we examined the preoperative nutritional status AKI in older patients who underwent major abdominal surgery, as predictive value of for AKI. Materials methods: We retrospectively included aged 65 or elective surgery. patient was evaluated using 3 objective indices, such geriatric risk index (GNRI), prognostic (PNI), controlling (CONUT). determined KDIGO criteria. performed logistic regression analysis to investigate AKI, scores Results: A total 2775 were which 707 (25.5%), 291 (10.5%), 517 (18.6%) had moderate severe according GNRI, PNI, CONUT calculations. After 144 (5.2%) developed 86.1% at stage 1, 11.1% 2, 2.8% by adjustment traditional factors, worse associated with a higher risk. addition these indices improved ability prediction models, demonstrated significant improvements integrated discrimination net reclassification. Conclusions: Poor status, assessed PNI scores, an increased Incorporating into models their performance. These findings emphasize need screening surgical Further research is needed determine whether assessment intervention can reduce incidence.
