ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine the effect of landing type (unilateral vs. bilateral) and gender on biomechanics drop landings in recreational athletes. Design: This study used a repeated measures design to compare bilateral unilateral male female A multivariate analysis variance (type landing*gender) was performed select variables. Setting: Biomechanics laboratory. Participants: Sixteen 16 Main Outcome Measures: Kinetic, kinematic, electromyographic (EMG) data were collected participants while performing from 40-cm platform. Results: Compared landings, subjects with increased knee valgus, decreased flexion at initial contact, peak flexion, relative hip adduction, normalized EMG rectus femoris, medial hamstrings, lateral gastrocnemius (P < 0.005). During both types landing, females landed valgus vertical ground reaction force (VGRF) compared males 0.009), however, interaction type*gender not significant = 0.29). Conclusions: athletes differences kinematic Female VGRF during landing.
