ABSTRACT
Idiopathic Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) is a common otologic emergency. Recently, the cause of ISSNHL, which still unclear, has been focused on chronic inflammation. Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) new and quick inflammatory marker, being measured routinely in CBC tests without any cost. We aimed to investigate relationship between ISSNHL inflammation by using NLR.Forty-seven patients diagnosed with 45 age- sex-matched healthy subjects were enrolled study. An automated blood cell counter was used for NLR measurements. The assessments carried out an audiometer, audiometric patterns assessed initially after 1 month treatment. All treated prednisone dose mg/kg per day, progressive reduction maintained at least 2 weeks. Then, divided into groups as " recovered" "unrecovered" according their response treatment. The mean NLR, neutrophil, lymphocyte values significantly higher than control group (p < 0.001, p = 0.004, respectively). In addition, levels unrecovered compared recovered ones 0.001).This first study investigating its prognosis. While evaluating determining should not be overlooked reliable indicator predicting diagnosis prognosis disease.
