ABSTRACT
It is widely assumed that central venous stenosis (CVS) most commonly associated with previous catheterization among the chronic hemodialysis (HD) patients. We evaluated validity of this assumption in retrospective study. The clinical records from 2,856 consecutive HD patients vascular access failure during a 5-year period were reviewed, and total 26 symptomatic CVS identified. Combined radiological findings, their characteristics examined. Only seven had history internal jugular dialysis catheterization. Diagnostic multidetector row computed tomography angiography showed 7 19 no left innominate vein due to extrinsic compression between sternum arch vessels. These shorter time creation initial referral (9.2 ± 7.6 months) than rest (35.5 18.6 months, p = 0.0017). Our findings suggest cases without may not be rare CVS. However, those still need confirm by larger prospective studies overall
