ABSTRACT
Helicobacter pylori eradication rates have fallen considerably in recent years. Antibiotic resistance is thought to be rising. To examine the levels of metronidazole (MTZ) and clarithromycin (CLA) H. pylori, isolates were taken a reference centre Ireland from 2007 2008 compared similar cohort study 1997.Antimicrobial susceptibilities tested by E-test. Frequencies spontaneous measured on an agar plate containing antibiotics at concentrations 2x 4x minimum inhibition concentration values. Clinical data obtained charts, laboratory endoscopy reports. Two hundred twenty-two patients analyzed, 98 females. Colonies amenable culture grown 219 patients. Thirty-seven had prior attempts therapy (all with amoxicillin-CLA-proton pump inhibitor. A total 31.5% strains resistant MTZ 13.2% noted CLA. About 8.6% both agents. CLA was 9.3% those who no 32.4% had. increased 3.9%, among treatment-naive 1997, our study. 29.1% population. In 27.1%. more likely occur females (35.4 vs. 28.5%) than males. This shows that Irish infected has since 1997. The future treatment may well lie widespread use sensitivity testing before treatment. This would promote accurate
