ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Objectives: The aim of the study was to examine effects a follow‐on formula containing Lactobacillus fermentum CECT5716 ( L ) on incidence infections in infants between ages 6 and 12 months. Patients Methods: A randomized double‐blinded controlled including at age months conducted. Infants were assigned randomly either supplemented with plus galactooligosaccharide (experimental group, EG), or same only (control CG). main outcome for 6‐month duration study. Results: EG showed significant 46% reduction rate (IR) gastrointestinal (EG: 0.196 ± 0.51, CG: 0.363 0.53, IR ratio 0.54, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.307–0.950, P = 0.032), 27% upper respiratory tract 0.969 0.96, 1.330 1.23, 0.729, CI 0.46–1.38, 0.026), 30% total number 1.464 1.15, 2.077 1.59, 0.70, 0.003), end period compared CG. Conclusions: Administration may be useful prevention community‐acquired infections.
