ABSTRACT
Nourishing a child undergoing bone marrow transplant (BMT) is essential, but the optimal method to achieve this not established. The objectives of study were investigate incidence and risk factors for complications gastrostomy tubes in patients with BMT.A retrospective chart review was conducted pediatric who received percutaneous endoscopic (PEG) either BMT or other indications during 3-year period. Occurrences complications, absolute neutrophil count (ANC) at time PEG placement, ANC complication reviewed both comparison group.Of 11 subjects group, 4 (36%) had major infection related 3 those required removal. Two developed moderately neutropenic placement all complication. Of 30 only 1 (2.8%) cellulitis. There no statistically significant differences between 2 groups before age, weight, albumin, white blood cell count. compared group (P=0.01).Our findings support that should be considered PEG, neutropenia may contraindication patients, modalities nutrition might need considered.
