ABSTRACT
Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) shows a bimodal distribution with first peak in developing countries during childhood. The causative role and prognostic significance of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) association patients HL is controversial. Our aim was to perform comparative study EBV 2 Latin American pediatric series, correlate it patient's survival. encoded RNAs situ hybridization latent membrane protein 1 immunohistochemistry were performed on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded biopsies from 176 public institutions Argentina Southeast Brazil. Mixed cellularity subtype prevalent Argentine (Arg HL) (52%) nodular sclerosis Brazilian (BR (83%). expression detected 52% cases, namely 54% Arg 48% Br HL. significantly associated mixed both populations. In HL, positivity higher patients<or=10 years (P=0.0011). Event-free survival did not attain statistical neither (P=0.5317), nor (P=0.8321). results do support stated for countries. Correlation younger age infection only might be related different background. our status cannot used as factor.
