ABSTRACT
The aim of our study was to identify the common and separate mechanisms that might underpin emotion recognition impairment in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) schizophrenia (Sz) compared healthy controls (HCs). We recruited 21 Sz outpatients, 24 severe TBI 38 HCs, we used eye-tracking compare facial processing performance. Both were significantly poorer at recognizing emotions HC. showed a different way exploring Pictures Facial Affects stimuli worse neutral expressions. Selective or sustained attention deficits may reduce efficient recognition, whereas Sz, there is more strategic deficit underlying observed problem. There would seem be scope for adjustment effective rehabilitative training focused on recognition.
