ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to analyze the net effects nurse practice environments on and patient outcomes after accounting for staffing education.Staffing education have well-documented associations with outcomes, but evidence effect care has been more limited.Data from 10,184 nurses 232,342 surgical patients in 168 Pennsylvania hospitals were analyzed. Care measured using environment scales Nursing Work Index. Outcomes included job satisfaction, burnout, intent leave, reports quality care, as well mortality failure rescue patients.Nurses reported positive experiences fewer concerns quality, had significantly lower risks death better environments.Care elements must be optimized alongside achieve high care.
