ABSTRACT
To compare children's reports of comfort, vision, and contact lens-related issues in gas permeable (GP) soft (SCL) lens wearers.Subjects were 116 8- to 11-year old children the Contact Lenses Myopia Progression Study. Aspects wear compared for remaining their original treatment group (either GPs or SCLs) 3 years. Questionnaires completed at every visit, as was visual acuity. Comparisons made between two groups using logistic regression mixed linear models analyses appropriate examine wearing experience. Additionally, crossing over from GP SCLs with lenses determine potential factors related dissatisfaction.Seventy percent wearers 93% SCL wore assigned visit. significantly fewer hours per week than (76.2 h/week vs. 86.8 h/week, respectively, p = 0.003). had statistically better acuity though difference not clinically meaningful (p < 0.001). Comfort poorer among Ocular Pain subscale 0.001) but did differ a subjective question about comfort. Symptoms more frequent 0.002) discomfort. Significant relating lower time itching.Children are able successfully lenses. Long-term adaptation occurred frequently GPs. The amount comfortably itching may help whether they will remain that modality.
