ABSTRACT
To examine in a prospective setting whether different hostility measures, including Cynical Distrust, Trait Anger, Anger Out, In, and Control, are related to cardiovascular disease (CVD) ischemic heart (IHD).Participants comprised 25- 74-year-old men (n = 3850) women 4083), followed up for 10 15 years. Control were assessed with the Spielberger State-Trait Expression Inventory Hostility Distrust Scale. Incident CVD IHD derived from hospital records/death certificates. Subjects history of or at baseline excluded.Subjects lowest tertile had higher risk first nonfatal fatal incidence (relative [RR], 1.35; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.06-1.73) than subjects highest after adjustment age, gender, education, marital status, smoking, body mass index, blood pressure, cholesterol, alcohol consumption, depressive symptoms. Higher scores predicted (RR, 1.31; CI, 1.09-1.56) 1.37; 1.08-1.74) events but these associations disappeared further status. Other i.e., not outcomes.This is study show that compared four other dimensions, low predicts events. Further studies should specific anger reflects more general psychosocial factors.
