ABSTRACT
Objectives: Prevalence of microalbuminuria is increased in patients with HIV. Microalbuminuria associated mortality other populations, including diabetics, for whom testing standard care. We investigated whether HIV-infected women not receiving antiretroviral therapy. Methods: Urinalysis proteinuria and semiquantitative were performed specimens from 2 consecutive visits 1547 enrolled the Women's Interagency HIV Study 1994-1995. Time to death was modeled using proportional hazards analysis. Results: Compared without albuminuria, hazard ratio (HR) all-cause 1 (HR: 3.4; 95% CI: 2.2 5.2) or positive either 3.9; 2.1 7.0). The highest risk observed both 5.8; 3.4 9.8). association between albuminuria remained significant after adjustment demographics, disease severity, related comorbidities. Similar results obtained AIDS death. Conclusions: identified a graded relationship mortality.
