The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in population a city 70,000 inhabitants located Buenos Aires, Argentina.Based on hypothesis that RA is an underdiagnosed disease Argentina, capture-recapture method applied. Anamnesis and physical examination followed hand foot radiography erythrocyte sedimentation rate factor measurements.According American College Rheumatology criteria, 0.94% (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.86%-1.02%) found surveyed population; agreement with other studies, higher women when compared men (for female, 1.54% [95% CI, 1.40%-1.69%]; for male, 0.40% 0.32%-0.49%]).The representative sample from central region Argentina seems close 1%.
