ABSTRACT
The aim of the study was comparison C-11 methionine (MET) and choline (CHO) in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging brain metastases correlation to histopathology findings stereotactic biopsy. In all, 8 patients underwent MET CHO PET magnetic resonance imaging, 7 these, were previously treated by radiation therapy. Histopathologic diagnosis made for each patient frame-based serial biopsy. Standardized uptake values tumor lesion-to-normal tissue ratios (LNRs) lesions determined. LNRs tracer compared with follow-up.In 6 patients, biopsy revealed viable metastases, 1 suffered from recurrence follow-up free follow-up. In last mentioned patient, LNR lowest determined all CHO, but not MET. Mean standardized median 1.8 1.1 1.5 6.6 CHO. significant higher than those (P = 0.007).In direct well-established amino acid MET, seems be promising because significantly without evidence a lower specificity uptake.
