ABSTRACT
Differentiation between metastasis-free pancreatic cancer and mass-forming pancreatitis is important to avoid unnecessary operative procedures. This study was aimed at evaluating the efficacy of PET/CT with F-FDG (FDG PET/CT) for differential diagnosis them.FDG-PET/CT performed in 47 patients masses without any detectable metastases, 33 which cases were finally diagnosed as other 14 pancreatitis, corresponding imaging data evaluated retrospectively. The maximal SUV (SUVmax) within determined 1 hour mostly 2 hours after intravenous injection FDG.SUVmax significantly higher than that change SUVmax from 1- 2-hour time points more consistent pancreatitis. However, there remained considerable overlapping values both diseases except either range (> 7.7 or > 9.98 hours) lower (<3.37 <3.53 hours). No obvious difference found FDG uptake patterns mass areas diseases.Differentiation difficult by FDG-PET/CT due two diseases, although may be possible
