We compared the 1-year outcomes of IA from one UK region who received overseas transplants receiving local living donor (LD) transplantation, deceased (DD) and dialysis.Between 1996 2006, 40 adults were transplanted overseas; 38 IA, follow-up data available on 36 patients. Forty LD transplants, 156 DD locally. A cohort 120 prospective dialysis was also used as a comparator group. In cohort, 20 (56%) not active in transplant waiting list at time transplantation overseas. One-year graft survival 87%, patient 83%. Composite 69.5% 1 year. In recipients, 97.5% (39 40; P=0.03), P=0.06). 95% (P=0.003). group, 42% had major infections 15% group (P=0.02). 84.6% (132 156), 93% (145 156; P=NS P=0.06, respectively). 96.7% (116 120; P=0.001).IA choose to have poor clinical should be counseled accordingly.
