A new coagulase-negative species of the genus Staphylococcus, Staphylococcus muscae, is described on basis results a study four strains that were isolated from flies. 16S rRNA sequences type S. schleiferi, and sciuri determined used, together with corresponding aureus epidermidis, for comparative analysis. The characterized taxonomically; this differentiated other novobiocin-susceptible staphylococci by its physiological biochemical activities, cell wall composition, levels genetic relatedness. strain MB4 (= CCM 4175).
