Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV): An associated etiology of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection in Children of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, India.

ABSTRACT
Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) are a serious public health concern across the world, causing considerable morbidity and mortality. Every year, around 13 million children under age of five die. Approximately 95% them from developing nations, ARIs responsible for one-third all deaths. Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) is one causative agents associated with tract infections. There lack information about hMPV eastern region Uttar Pradesh. In our centre, Indian Council Medical Research- Regional Research Centre Gorakhpur (ICMR‐RMRC Gorakhpur) at Gorakhpur, Pradesh, India; we tested pathogens in under-five patients presenting ARI severe acute illness (SARI) through semi nested PCR. A total 100 nasal throat specimens were collected OPD IPD Department Paediatrics, BRD College, during February 2022 to April 2022. Out enrolled pediatric patients, 4 (4%) found be positive. Among who positive hMPV, 25% (1/4) patient unfortunately died. The phylogenetic analysis showed close resemblance clade Singapore USA isolates. Our work underlines importance as cause need routine testing this virus laboratories. Further comprehensive regarding incidence area needed.
