ABSTRACT
The species Mesorhizobim loti was isolated from nodules of Lotus corniculatus and its type strain deposited in several collections. Some these strains, such as those the USDA ATCC collections before 1990, are not coincident with original strain, NZP 2213T, culture collection. analysis 16S rRNA gene showed that strains 3471T 33669T formed independent branches occupied by Mesorhizobium 2213T related to opportunistum WSM2075T huakuii IFO 15243T, respectively, 99.9 % similarity both cases. However, concatenated recA, atpD glnII genes similarities lower than 96, 98 94 %, between M. indicated represent different genus Mesorhizobium. These results were confirmed DNA-DNA hybridization experiments phenotypic characterization. Therefore, two reclassified representatives erdmanii sp. nov. (type = CECT 8631T LMG 17826t2T) jarvisii 8632T 28313T).
