ABSTRACT
A novel type of mineral-weathering bacterium was isolated from purplish soils collected Yanting (Sichuan, south-western China). Cells strain 1007 T were Gram-stain-negative and rod-shaped, motile yellow-pigmented. The isolate strictly aerobic, catalase- oxidase-positive, grew optimally at 28-30 °C pH 6.0-7.0. genomic DNA G+C content 67±0.7 mol%. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that belonged to the genus Sphingomonas most closely related pruni IFO 15498 (97.3 %), mali 15500 (97.2 japonica KC7 %) koreensis JSS26 (97.0 %). This affiliation confirmed by presence Q-10 as major ubiquinone, sphingoglycolipid, C 14 : 0 2-OH absence 3-hydroxy fatty acids. polyamine homospermidine. main cellular acids included summed feature 8 (comprising 18 1 ω7 c and/or ω6 ) 16 . Based low level DNA–DNA relatedness (ranging 26.1 % 58.7 these strains species unique phenotypic characteristics, represents a , for which name yantingensis sp. nov. is proposed.
