ABSTRACT
Two strictly anaerobic strains (MB11T and MB56) were isolated from common marmoset (Callithrixjacchus) faeces. Cells of the two Gram-stain-negative, pleomorphic short (strain MB11T) or long rods. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that both isolates related to genus Phascolarctobacterium. They had similarities lower than 93 % previously described species, Phascolarctobacterium faecium ACM 3679T succinatutens YIT 12067T, 98.7 between themselves. DNA-DNA hybridization values showed MB11T MB56 same species. The genomic DNA G+C content 47.3-47.4 mol% 47.7-48.0 mol%. different enzymatic activities compared with P. JCM 16074T major cellular fatty acids 3679T. Substrate availability they utilized not only succinate, but also pyruvate. With pyruvate supplementation, produced propionate acetate, while production occured succinate. As suggested by phylogenic physiological properties MB56, we propose name Phascolarctobacteriumwakonense sp. nov. type strain (=JCM 32899T=DSM 107697T).
