ABSTRACT
Mycoplasma agalactiae is the main cause of contagious agalactia, a serious disease sheep and goats, which has major clinical economic impacts. We have developed multilocus sequence typing (MLST) scheme using sequenced genomes M. strains PG2 5632. An MLST based on genes gltX, metS, gyrB, tufA dnaA was designed in total 3468 bp were analysed for each strain. offers highly discriminatory method capable subdividing 53 into 17 distinct types, largely according to geographical origin. detected unexpected diversity recent isolates from Spain, identifying two novel outliers, enabled Mongolian first time. Genetic regions due mutation, with recombination playing much smaller role. A web-accessible database been set up this agalactiae: http://pubmlst.org/magalactiae/. robust, objective molecular epidemiological tool that enables interlaboratory comparison data.
