ABSTRACT
Abstract Plant-soil feedbacks (PSF) play a substantial role in determining plant performance native and foreign habitats. Yet, PSF strength may be altered by climatic parameters, creating synergies. Here, we assess of alpine grassland species their soils an experiment including different climates. Using soil seeds sampled from six sites spreading gradient Northern Africa to Europe, compared home five soils, as well climates (simulated temperature photoperiod growth chambers). We found that despite high variability between sites, plants generally performed better climate, than or climate. However, interaction climate effect caused this occur only when Similarly, improved were also placed soil. Synthesis: In contrast predictions the literature, no benefit growing are indicated. At least on short term, change alone is not suggested affect performance. introduced habitat with similar habitat, perform range, but both new will do poorly. This finding sheds light interactive origin, possible success introductions under changing
