ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND General translational cis -elements are present in the mRNAs of all genes and affect recruitment, assembly, progress preinitiation complexes ribosome under many physiological states. These elements are: mRNA folding, upstream open reading frames, specific nucleotides flanking initiating AUG codon, protein coding sequence length, codon usage. The quantitative contributions these features how why they coordinate together to control translation rates not well understood. RESULTS Here we show that specify 42%–81% variance S . cerevisiae, pombe, Arabidopsis thaliana, M musculus , H Sapiens We establish by RNA secondary structure is chiefly mediated highly folded 25–60 nucleotide segments within 5’ regions; changes tri-nucleotide frequencies between poorly translated regions correlated species; distinct biochemical processes extensively as regulation a single process acting different parts same mRNA. CONCLUSIONS Our work shows general much larger fraction than previously realized. provide more detailed accurate understanding aspects direct diverse eukaryotes. In addition, note strongly -control will cause even densities along each therefore efficient use machinery cell.
