ABSTRACT
Purpose Resilience of long-lived family businesses has been widely acknowledged but the mechanisms enabling longevity need to be further investigated. This can done by examining how narratives about crisis situations are processed in firms. Design/methodology/approach Based on narrative interviews, this qualitative study examines have dealt with and narrated German Findings Narratives survival a strengthening effect so they become also for survival. The analysis reveals constructive management crises contributes emotional attachment, identification commitment strengthens resilience longevity.
