ABSTRACT
Excessive heating and power loss due to high-frequency switching are always alarming issues in the case of multilevel inverter (MLI) based applications such as solar photovoltaic (PV) systems industrial drives. Both semiconductor switches significantly rely on pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme employed. This paper proposes an improved technique for a PV-fed grid-tied 5-level cascaded H-bridge (CHB) inverter, which also reduces losses relation several existing schemes. The proposed employs modified discontinuous standard mode signal develop modulating method. Level-shifted triangular carrier signals considered with produce gate pulses CHB inverter. performance is validated through MATLAB/Simulink PLECS computer simulation environments.
