Due to the voltage limitation of power semiconductor devices, medium-voltage-connected supply systems generally use cascaded conversion cell structure. To increase density, a single-phase five-level AC/DC converter for interfacing 10 kV medium-voltage is proposed. The circuit and control principle are introduced. Besides, down-scaled prototype built experimental results bidirectional operation given verify principle.
